Lebanon has ratified major human rights conventions; nevertheless, their optional protocols were not signed nor ratified. Conventions that still need to be ratified after signature are: the Optional Protocol to the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict; the 2006 Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the 2007 International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance. Lebanon is not a party to the 1990 Migrant Workers Convention nor to the 1951 Refugee Convention or Protocol.

Lebanon has ratified the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their two Additional Protocols. However, it has not ratified nor signed the 1998 Rome Statute, most of the weapon conventions, the 1997 Convention for the Suppression of Terrorist Bombings and the 1999 Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism.
