Barbara Wilson
Professorof International Law
Barbara Wilson studied law and obtained her doctorate in law at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. She is at present Professor of Public International Law at Lausanne University.
She has also taught as guest professor at the University Centre for International Humanitarian Law, Geneva (now called the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights). On several occasions, she has given seminars in the UNIDEM programme on the protection of minorities, organized in Trieste (Italy) by the Council of Europe and arranged for high-ranking officials from various European States. For the last seven years, she has given courses on Swiss Constitutional Law and Fundamental Rights at the University of Savoie (Chambéry, France). She is a former Member of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of the United Nations and Member of the Advisory Committee of the Framework Convention on the Protection of National Minorities of the Council of Europe. Her research areas are human rights and, in particular, economic, social and cultural rights, minority rights and protection against racial discrimination.
