Ioana Cismas
Researcher
Ioana Cismas is a researcher at the Academy. Her work involves academic research and the provision of legal and policy expertise and advice to various stakeholders. As part of the team of the Project on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, Ioana is offering legal support to one of the members of the Advisory Committee of the UN Human Rights Council. In this position, she contributed to a number of studies of the Advisory Committee, such as the Study on discrimination in the context of the right to food.
She has previously worked or interned in the research and policy analysis units of the Centre for International Governance at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Geneva Call, and the Harvard/Graduate Institute Project on Transnational and Non-State Armed Groups. She has also served as a personal adviser to the Romanian Minister of European Integration and as Secretary General of the International Association for Political Science Students in Ljubljana.
As a Ph.D. candidate in International Law at the Graduate Institute, Ioana Cismas is exploring the rights and obligations of religious state and non-state actors under international law. She holds a M.A. in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute and a double B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration in Bucharest.
